vrs - hid's for sidelights

Featured Replies

Well okay not using them as side lights but wondering if they would fit in the space that the side light would go??

What ive read its just a blank so thought i could put a hid in its place (i'm guessing its a big enough), might have to get a holder sorted out to keep secure

If the above is possible, does anyone know if i could connect to dipped beam cable on switch without the canbus throwing an error (i know its throws error if too low a current is drawn but what if voltage is higher)

If its not possible to connect to dipped beam i could fit a switch to turn off and on seperatly using heated seat blank space

Do you mean removing DRL/Sidelight/Parking light unit and fitting Spot/driving or fog lights?

Where are you fitting the sidelights you require by law and for the MOT to get a pass..

Are you going to wire up the unused bulb already in the Headlight unit as the sidelight?

An Auto Electrician did mine.

The blank bulb that is in the headlight light of a vrs which would be a side light in any other fabia, to be wired up as a additional dipped beam using an hdi kit.

The side light would remain the drl,

well looking at your post its possible to connect to sidelight switch without throwing canbus error

Sorry,

why do you want an additional Dipped Beam?

Do you not use dip when needed to not blind anyone, shining to the left and full beam when lighting is needed ahead ?

Why not just fit extra Spot/Driving lights for seeing if thats the requirement , or Fog lights for in Fog.

The reflector isn't designed for it, so sticking a HID in there would be like slapping every other motorist in the face with a cold smelly herring.

The OP is talking about replacing the whole unit

I've thought about going for HID's in standard reflectors, but since they will blind everything and their mother...

I recon that I would let it go, it might actually be somebodys mother that doesn't come home after being blinded by the lights and hitting an elk =/!

Sk4g, do you got any pics off the wiring your electrician-friend did?

Would be very interesting to see =)!
