Sanity check required please - VRS purchase

Featured Replies

I've regretted selling my VRS ever since it went - my Honda diesel makes perfect sense as I cover 22k ish per year, but I hate both it and diesels in general, I'm happy to pay the additional for petrol as I get mileage allowance anyway.

So, I have the option of a 2010 plate VRS, not many toys, full history with a genuine 7k on the clock - for 10 grand. Price seems good compared to what is available on Auto Trader etc. Wondering what the Octy 3 will do to prices and whether waiting a few months is sensible.

Thoughts?

Can't see the Octy 3 affecting prices much if at all, and if people want a vRS they'll have to wait longer. 10k is cheap. I've just paid 12k for a 2010 vRS DSG, 15k miles, with some toys. That was cheap compared to others I could find. There never seems to be many for sale. If it's the car you want I'd say go for it.

I'm afraid the MK3 will affect Mk2 values......it's a fact of life.

But at £10k, that's cheap. If your only worry is values falling after the Mk3 comes out, at that price you'll be ok.

The MK3 coming out will not have an affect on the value of a 3 year old car that's already lost half it's original value and is already cheap.

Oh you already that...

It think it will......because all of a sudden that 3 year old car is no longer being built.....and in the eyes of some buyers.....obsolete.

Skoda prices are rising - I doubt if the VAT-free deal will carry over to the new Octavia and the exchange rate is moving against the pound. In short, the alternative of a new model is going to be more expensive than it was and is bound to firm up used prices. There will be no used examples of the new model for some time and even when available their prices will reflect the higher purchase price paid.
