CR 110 diesel Yeti

Reading all the stuff - is it better with a re-map or a tuning box?

I really want something I can take off, so I guess it will have to be a tuning box. Are they as clever as they make them out to be, or are they just squirting extra diesel in?

Bit of a stupid question really, but can tuning boxes be effective and not harmful?

All they do is over fuel the engine...but they do work...on pd 130 bhp car it did take it to 165 bhp and did 20,000 miles with no problems.

Shark can take the 110 cr to 173 bhp....good map as well

I have a Racechip on my Greenline Yeti - does what it says on the tin - quite confident now to sit on the outside lane at the lights!

Fuel consumption slightly improved - why? probably because vehicle more tractable at low revs.

The consumption advantage on a 110CR likely to be greater - it was on my previous car - a 2.2 Civic.

Just had my first service - 5 mins to remove or replace the Racechip.

In terms of whats good for the engine and a nicer drive; remap without a doubt. Shark have done a few 110s now with great results. :)

I got "chipped uk " to remap my BMW. They post you the handheld unit. You download your current map via OBD port and email it to them. They add 2 maps, one is a Mid level tune and one is the full bhuna. You then plug the device back into OBD port and pick either standard map or one of the 2 new ones and upload it. This means no detection come service time as when you upload your original map again it wipes the memory or something (im no expert) so the ecu shows that it has never been re-written. Job done.

Bluefin is the same thing as this i think also.

Better than a plug in box as its a proper remap ffor your specific car but can be put back to standard in 3 minutes. You need a battery charger plugged in whe you do the up / down load but thats no biggie.

From what I've read on their web site Shark's STS unit would let you replace the remap with a stored copy of the original at any time, then put the remap back on. That has the advantages of a tuning box but with a custom map tuned to your specific engine. More pricey than a generic tuning box but probably the most versatile solution.

The STS (or any handheld unit) won't work with the CR110 as it is tuning protected.

The process isn't quite as scary as it once was, as we now have a solderless probe for this ECU and many others.
