Full Octavia brochure - estate available to order now?

Featured Replies

I've found the full brochure tucked away on Skoda's website and towards the back it says that the estate is available to order now.

Can any of our dealers confirm that this is the case, or is it a bit optimistic?

Any idea on the price difference over the hatch, and if the sunroof will cost more too?

I read in the press release that the difference was £800. Can't find the link now, will try and dig out

Sorry - I hadn't realised that this wasn't generally available or I might have posted the PDF myself - my dealer emailed this to me on 4th March when I booked my test drive for the 16th.

I think it may be a case of 'placing an order', this is then subject to the car actually being allowed on to the system.

From what I've read on various updates etc, we will have to order a car or 2 within the next few weeks, this will then be with us prior to the unveiling of the estate around June time.

IMT is correct, pricing is going to be £800 (or thereabouts) for the estate.

That helps a lot, thanks.

I *may* have a deadline to order a company car by the end of the month. The actual delivery date wouldn't be an issue (a three month lead time would work well, actually) but I'd need to have at least told HR what I want by then.

Interesting reading. Such a shame the 1.4TSi comes in at 121g c02 - just missing the £30 break point. :(

This illustrates a point I was making in another thread about VED having a disproportionate effect on people's buying habits.

It's only an extra £70 a year for the extra 2g which in the grand scheme of things isn't a big deal at all, but it really does make people stop and think about how efficient their next car will be.

I'm exactly the same though - I'd be very reluctant to buy another new car now that didn't fit into the £30 or less zone.

It's still a very impressive figure though.

Four years ago, my 1.6TDI Bravo (0-60 in 11.5 seconds) was the biggest and best car you could get in the £30 band without going for a hybrid. Three years before that you had to look at an Aygo.

Now we have a 140bhp petrol engined full size family car that does 0-60 in just over 8 seconds that has missed out by a tiny margin. Very impressive progress in a short time.

Agreed, its nothing short of amazing really. BMW is another case in point with their sub 120g 5 series! My reasoning for buying my Fiesta was simple - I wanted the largest amount of torque (post remap) and still only pay £30 tax combined with cheap overall running costs. As the Octavia may well replace it (as I love my Yeti too much to get rid just yet!) its a psychological thing I guess; I dont want to pay more for the tax on a replacement car - wheres the progress in that? Stepping back, I could see the progress is in the fact its twice the size and twice the car but Im only human! Another point bearing in mind is that the estates *sometimes* incur a slightly higher c02 figure than their hatch equivalents (im after an estate).

Very impressive progress in a short time.

I agree, though from a company car BIK rather than VED point of view. I was very pleased with my 139g/km 4 years ago, especially as I had ordered the Audi 2.0d assuming 143g/km. When it arrived, it was from the next model year and had Stop / Start which dropped it a tax band. 4 years on, I know I need to be below 119g/km just to stand still since the band moves every year. Yet my short-list includes a BMW 3 estate at 112g/km and the Octy hatch at 106g/km  . Anyone know what the co2 figure for the Octy3 Combi is please? (2.0d manual).

Nice :) When is the 4x4 expected?

Bad form answering my own question, but the list prices and co2 values for the Estate are now on the SUK website

http://www.skoda.co....es/default.aspx

There is a £890 premium for the Estate and 110g/km for the 2.0 TDI CR 150PS manual (against 106g/km for the hatch. Shame it sneaked up a BIK tax band.

Well spotted!

That's very helpful

All credit to a nice lady at our leasing company, who told me the prices were there! I should be able to get lease quotes by Monday, after having driven the hatch on Saturday

I did have a sit in a Golf Mk7 yesterday - its estate should be out soon too, though possibly too late for my 3rd July change.

I assume the footwell / pedal layout between Golf and Octavia is going to be the same and it didn't feel that generous (RE me getting my Size 11s tangled up in the cramped BMW 3 series footwell then realising how spacious my A4 is in that department).

Surely they have a made a balls in the brochure of the BIK band for the 1.4TSI? It can't be the same as the 2.0CR or am I missing something?

Erm yes, just did some research and didn't realise petrol attracts lower rates...

My maths says the difference is only £800.

E.g. Top 2.0D Elegance DSG Hatch = £23,240 hatch, £24,040 estate.

That's £800 in anyone's book.

Yep, there's a 3% surcharge on diesels

The official answer is that diesels emit harmful particulates and deserve the surcharge.

The cynical view is that company car drivers all switched to diesel to save money so this raises more money.

Surprisingly though the surcharge is being dropped in a few years.

Yes, my bad & I bow to your superior maffs - I had a spreadsheet with the price of the manual as 21900 when it should have been 21990, so the subtraction from 22790 was wrong. Though you probably didn't need that much detail :giggle:

So, hatch vs estate.....

Hatch gives me another £800 of options to play with, and would be £15 a month cheaper on tax.

The estate looks nicer and has the flat boot floor....

Of course I may not like it and it may be irrellevant.

There will be fewer estates on the roads?

Easier to get stuff in and out? (Lower lip).

You get roof rails? I have never used a roof rack, but that may be important.

I'm seriously tempted by a 1.4 petrol Elegance estate when my diesel vRS estate gets to 100k next year. I'm assuming the new vRS will blow the company £22500 car budget by some margin.
