If you run with out your front crash bar the front end of the car will feel springy due to that crash bar holds the front together a few people tested it on there track mk4s to try and loose excess waight to later find out the handling goes out the window

So in other words yes you do need it lol

no you dont need it.

also he has a fabia not a mk4 (golf i assume) they are different chasis so why compare?

I'm not sure telling your insurance is the issue in this case. Its different running mods and gettin away with it and worst case scenario Paying a big bill. But in this case the outcome could be a bit more significant if you were to test out your (lack of) new found rigidity.

From his user name i assume he means mk4 Ibiza which is a Fabia underneath

Can you not flip that intercooler the other way up so it tucks slightly up behind the crash bar?

Is it safe to run my car without brakes? I just can't get the Brembo 6-pots to fit under my 16" Spiders :'(

I would suggest taking the whole thing apart again and having another look. I think most on here have managed to fit the FMIC without removing the crash bar

All depends how much of a tube you are really.....

There is no need to remove it 'completely' when running a fmic

Couldn't see that on my phone sorry. Must be all in the head as it has made no difference to mine (not tracked it i must had) and others who have mainly one in particular running 270bhp.
