Cheers again Silver...and there was me thinking I was potentially purchasing a bit of a lemon, that, should the need ever arise when it had to go in to my local Skoda dealer (hell will freeze over first, before I pay their labour rates !!), they would turn around and say they wouldn't touch it with a barge pole !!!

From what your saying (and the previous owner too), it sounds like a pretty good buy then ????

Whoops...double post...can you clarify what Maxidot is please, and any ideas on the timing belt interval ??

Maxidot is the display which shows u which door is opened and has options that allow u to turn the arrive home lights on and off etc. If its a cr then dealers say 120k or four years.

Have to agree that is a stunning looking car, however, it's got the DSG box, and I wanted a manual, and the starting price is £10,900, so I would expect it rapidly going out of my price range !!

I doubt very much he is gonna get anymore than 11k...time will tell tho

Cheers Jedsy...it's just coming up for 4 years, but nowhere near the mileage obviously. I have read a thread on here discussing whether the 4-year interval is just Skoda (uk) ripping folk off, as they allegedly don't have a time interval elsewhere. Where do you stand on this, and do belts actually fail after 4 years ??

Sounds just like the set-up I've already got in my Altea !!!

Hmm ill prob get mine done on 110-115k. Im on 94 at the mo.The call is yours...personally in a cr with your mileage id wait til 75-80 at least....but if it did go ud feel awful kknowing you were advised by stealers to change at four years...

As graham on blind date would say...."the decision is yours"

I was hoping you would say that, as that is what I was considering doing....as I said above, I have been servicing cars for 30 years now, and the number of times I have heard of timing belts snapping, you could count on one hand.

However, one of our '59 plate Volvo D5's at work recently had one go, and they get serviced every 3000 miles, so I guess it's just the luck of the draw !!!

Can you clarify what Maxidot is please...
