New vRS estate collected today

Featured Replies

Hi,

First observations on my new 13 reg. car v my old 2010 version;

  • New steering wheel is more stylish
  • New shift lever has the selector knob at the back not the side making it easier to operate
  • New shaped shift paddles on the steering wheel, nicer to operate
  • Lower road noise
  • Better build quality, virtually no rattles, yet
  • Engine is CTHE
  • Top up oil in boot 1lt (hope I need less than 3000m/lt as before)
  • New badges
  • Dealer brimmed with 98 octane
  • Nicer exhaust note (maybe I can hear it better)
  • Tickover is up 150rpm (standing starts quicker)
  • DSG seems more responsive (program updated?)
  • No oil burned 366 miles
  • Downward manual changes definitely smoother, especially 4th to 3rd, 3rd to 2nd.
  • The headlights appear to be different, well certainly the adjusters are, seem better at night on dip

Hope I enjoy it as much as the previous one

Regards

Tony

Ooo pics of the steering wheel and gear knob please! Also, what brand tyres did it come with?

  • Author

Too cold for pics today but it came with the right tyres, Contis.

Good to hear about the contis. The dealer I went to today claimed they don't have an actual make of tyre for each model, but put on whatever batch of premium tyres Skoda have had a deal on. Hoping mine don't come with Dunflops

Brimmed with 98!! Was told i will get 2 gallons in mine :(

Look out for my old car on the market. 18,000 miles, 6 months warranty left with free service at the end.

3,000 miles+ to litre of oil, new front tyres, centre arm rest, rear parking sensors, front and rear mud flaps, Race Blue, hardly a mark on it 3 or 4 stone chips.

Wow must go peek at a newer one :)

Love the new steering wheel design, but there's no chrome 'VRS' badge on it. :(

very nice.... hope I get the conti's.. if i get the dunlops, I may put my current black wheels on it and sell the new ones! lol...

out of interest when did you order it to arrive now?

Not a fan of any of the revisions myself, I agree that the VRS interior did need some finishing touches, chrome etc but the new steering wheel isn't to my taste, especially missing the VRS logo.

Never the less, fantastic car :) Enjoy.

I think the new steering wheel looks great! Shift lever looks odd from the angle of the pic though

I like the revisions, is it really more quiet inside, or is it just that new car thing?! :)

Like the wheel, hate the gear lever.

I'd imagine its the different tyres.

Was thinking about the new position of the button on the gear knob. Won't you press it if you are in manual using the knob to change gears (ooo eeerrr)?

Not a fan of either revision

Gear lever seems to be very similar to the one I had in my Scirocco - didn't have any issues with it personally.

How is the rear badged up? The 3d configurator on Skoda UK shows the VRS now has a 'Skoda' badge as well, and the VRS has moved to below the 'Fabia' badge underneath the ridge on the bootlid. Any change you could whack some exterior pics up as well? thanks!

Don't worry the knob does nothing in manual.

No, it feels much better put together and definitely quieter. i took it up to normal, middle lane motorway speed today and it is really quiet.

It's the road/tyre noise that has improved.

It took 2 weeks from placing order.

It looks to me like the 'v' is done body colour, unless all the badges are in a steel grey colour.

Will take some more pics next week.

I tried to show the new position of the shift knob in very wide angle setting. It's definitely easier to switch from 'D' to 'N' when waiting in heavy traffic. You can pull back on the knob with little need to squeeze the lever at all. Hope this makes sense?

I found the "lever at the front" a little more natural, even though most of the autos I've driven before have been of the "button on the side" variety.
