Patience; just back from holiday, car is caked with mud inside and out.

Been on a walking holiday in Dorset, will clean the car and take some pictures as soon as the rain stops, so don't hold your breath.

Tony

Haha. Hope they car performed well on your trip? Now get cleaning!

Cleaned the mud off, so here's some pics.

Very smart. I would have liked a metallic grey vRS but it wasn't an option when I ordered in 2011.

Looking dashing!

I see you went for the only suitable wheel choice

Smart - I too wanted this colour lol

Looks great. Glad I went for that colour. Seems there is no green on the vrs badges anymore? They look a little unfinished.

That's what I want next but with white wheels

love the colour Tony :)

Disagree! Ordered mine with silver wheels. Black only makes it look more of a 4x4!

Some like it black some like white/silver - each to their own :).

Hi,

First observations on my new 13 reg. car v my old 2010 version;

  • New steering wheel is more stylish
  • New shift lever has the selector knob at the back not the side making it easier to operate
  • New shaped shift paddles on the steering wheel, nicer to operate
  • Lower road noise
  • Better build quality, virtually no rattles, yet
  • Engine is CTHE
  • Top up oil in boot 1lt (hope I need less than 3000m/lt as before)
  • New badges
  • Dealer brimmed with 98 octane
  • Nicer exhaust note (maybe I can hear it better)
  • Tickover is up 150rpm (standing starts quicker)
  • DSG seems more responsive (program updated?)
  • No oil burned 366 miles

Hope I enjoy it as much as the previous one

Regards

Tony

Added a few more observations.

Tony

Interesting about the higher idle speed...I only spot a difference when in S or manual where it does raise the RPM by a couple of hundred. Also coming to a standstill in D, there does seem to be 2 idle speeds; one when you first come to a stop, then it drops again after a few seconds (I think when it actually selects neutral and disengages both clutch packs?). Same effect as if you select N at a standstill.

Mine's a mid-2012 CAVE though, not a CTHE..

Being new, the DSG is still probably learning as it is, to a degree, adaptive to your driving style?

Same as Phil above :) DSG is learning based on your driving style in S and full manual modesas well as from D mode driving - it is afterall governed by CPU running fuzzy logic adapatble soft.

Any higher resolution pictures? Specifically from the back - I want to play around with deleting badges on photoshop.

I tend to put it N at lights if I am not first in the queue, manual seems to be suggesting such strategy and grew to like.

Tony, fancy writing that comparison between Clio and Fab vRS?

I have just updated the list above. The gear change issue was troubling a lady driver, I think. The issue was, if you change from 4th to 3rd at too low a speed the auto throttle 'blip' caused the car to temporarily surge forwards; this no longer happens and downward changes manually are much smoother.

Tony

I still have no build date :(

Your patience will be well rewarded; they have made a brilliant car even better.
