Anybody use -50 H&R 29260-1 with stock shocks on vRS? How it looks like?

Not sure you can pair them with standard shocks but I could be wrong

Why not?

Using lowering springs with standard shocks is not a good idea, basically because the shock absorbers will be operating on a different part of the piston. This part of the piston could be contaminated with rust, salt and other debris that can very quickly lead to total failure of the shock absorbe because the internal seals are damaged by the dirt and debris.

This all in theory. In fact stock shocks with -30 lowering springs lives long life with no problem.

If you used the search function you'd probably have found this thread:

post #7 trevorb33's posted his car on -50mm H&R (only drops a vRS 35mm as its already 15mm lower than a regular octavia).

Original dampers won't last long with those springs - they are designed to work with at the height of the OE springs so they'll be out of their operating range. Plus they are pretty **** dampers anyway - if you're pulling the suspension to bits to fit the springs you might as well ditch the dampers and put somethign on there that's designed to work at that lower height - bilstein b8 for example.

I'm not on standard shocks though, will probably be really bounces on stock shocks! And will reduce there life, but if it's temporary then go for it

Thanks guys!

At -50mm you'd be bottoming out the standard shocks and risk putting the rod through the bottom of the case.

Otherwise you'll always be riding on the bump stops, so it is a bit pointless.

Mainly as the cost of changing them a second time is probably as much as the cost of suitable dampers.

As mentioned you'll only get around a 35mm drop from the H&R 50mm springs on the VRS so using them with standard dampers wouldn't be as bad as it would on the non VRS models but i'd still suggest changing the dampers to shorter matched kit.

Something like the Bilstein B8 would be the perfect option to go for.
