Intercooler to get valve pipe lose:-(

Featured Replies

Hi guys my 90 degree pipe that comes from the intercooler to the egr valve keeps working its self lose. I been looking into egr delete as this would solve the problem but is the delete worth it at all? Will the car pass an mot test with an egr delete? Cheers

Hello? Can anybody help me please? I need to know if the allards egr delete is a safe and worthy replacement? Will the car pass an mot test with the egr delete on? I need to know ASAP as I don't want to be driving round with a lose pipe forever. Cheers

I suspect you're not getting a response as its a well documented topic....

Anyway, yes it will pass an mot with the egr deleted, although you may need to map out the eml if you have a BLT engine.

Safe? Yes, from my research ;)

Worthwhile? Yes, less crappy air going back into the system amongst other benefits.

my engine isn't a bacon , lettuce and tomatoe sandwich mate its a 1.9pd130 in a 54 plate fabia Vrs. Is it a blt then? So how would I go about this "map" you talk of? The sandwich bit was a joke btw lol

Removing it requires a pipe to go in its place, usually a shiny one with no internal bits, there's a group buy going on here. The kit you buy depends on your engine code, which can be read off the white sticker on the top of the cambelt cover (round-topped cover on the left hand side of the engine block, once you've removed the engine cover) Normally it'll be BLT or ASZ.

If you have a BLT engine, then the EGR will have a valve attached immediately to its left which is the ASV (anti-shudder valve) which are seperate units, and the 90 degree boost pipe you mentioned is actually attached to the ASV. Therefore having a BLT engine and using the BLT kit wouldn't actually solve your problem.

I'm not sure if you can/should fit an ASZ kit to a BLT, but you'll lose your anti shudder valve so it may be a bit rough when you switch the engine off.

It might be worth picking up an ASV to see if it solves your problem, then consider the delete as well.

Yours will be the asz code on that year unless its had an engine change.
