Headlight saga

Featured Replies

Well phoned Skoda today to sort out what going to do about headlight!

The answer, it is the correct part number so should fit, yeah well it don't, shall bring the car and you try and see what I mean

Got there at 16:00 and went to spares department to make myself known, shall get a fitter to sort it for you

Fitter came out, oh this don't fit, told you that, what you going to do?

Its the correct part number was the answer

So I then said, take the headlight out of that Blackline there and try it, surprise did not fit, then took one out of a 60 reg on the forecourt and surprise it fitted, so my assumption is that they have a headlight change somewhere between 2009 and 2012

But the part number is the same! Was the reply

So now the answer is take the headlight back, order a new one, and when it arrives, get the fitter to try it on the 60 reg if fits, phone me, if not, get in touch with Skoda and found out why their part number system is not working right

Not a happy Teddy, hope this is not way it will be if you need parts

There either pre facelift headlights or facelift, unless yours is the changeover year they are pretty easy to tell the difference

i feel like I've started reading a book in the middle. is there a first part of the story we should know?

It is a face lift version on registered 12/09 what year did they change over?

Not that good on the forum and following threads etc, have to have more practice lol

It is a face lift version on registered 12/09 what year did they change over?

The MkII facelift replaced the MkII pre-facelift late in 2009. Sounds like yours might be one of the first?

if you have a pre fl headlight and the fitter needed to try and fit it on a 60 plate they need a new job.

The difference between face lift and pre face lift headlights is huge. Yes you are right on the crossover point but still, you'd be a moron to not see the difference.

When you ordered it did they take your reg and mention about facelift?

Yes they took chassis number and registration, but ended up getting headlight for newer version, says that the headlight number has been superseded, but when fitting the light sticks out at the bottom and does not fit all the way into the wing

Hopefully they can sort it?

so why would you make a change to a headlight for the FL, then change it again. Just makes no sense.

I think the pre-facelift discussion is confusing things.

The OP has a facelift Octavia.

He was supplied with a replacement facelift headlight which didn't fit.

The confusion is around has the design of the facelift headlight changed since its introduction in 2009.

thats what im saying.
