Please help.Egr valve and front seat heating

Featured Replies

Anyone else had problems with these two components. If so,are they frequent that they way be put in the same pile called "reoccuring faults".

My mom owns a 2001 Skoda Fabia Hatchback 1,4 litre 16 valves.

Driven 70000 kilometers/43495.98 miles.

The local Skoda retailer/service center as offered a to repair both problems giving us a 50% discount. No retailer with a solid product will give a customer such a huge discount, and I`m quite sure that these problems are well known amongst Skoda retailers.I think this "super" discount is merely a way of cutting a personal loss doing repair that should be done under full warranty.

From what I`ve heard from people working at Opel retailers, this 30-50 %discount offer(we know it`s under warranty but won`t tell you) is very common way of cutting personal loss.

I aways thought EGR was only on the Diesel engines, but I might be wrong.

My driver's heated seat wasn't working properly when I first test drove the car, and I had it repaired (under warranty as it happened!) by the local dealer before I collected the car. Wish I hadn't now as they buggered up the seat mountings, got 2 punctures getting the car to the dealer and then lost the locking wheel nut key after changing the first one, so they had to drill out the locking wheel nut for the 2nd puncture!

The car was about 3 days short of 3 years old. I've not had any trouble with my EGR valve :D

Nope, you can have them on petrol engines too. My Megane has one.

Yep but Megane = French :D

It may be French, but in the six years i've had it, it's never once broken down or refused to start. :D

I thought all modern petrol engines had EGR valves for emissions regulations.

I had a Clio Mk2 172 and this had twin cats for emmisions, could work out costly if they both failed

As to French cars, everyone I have been in or owned has rattled or squeeked as the build quality is shocking. SWMBO had a 1.4 16v Megane Alize and though not a great engine is was reliable as you say.
