Octy III vRS diesel & 'possibly a 4wd model too- maybe limited edition'

Featured Replies

Just read this and I'm super excited!

If they do one I'll be down the dealer on the day the orderbook opens for a 4WD version. Wish I hadn't got the Yeti now and stuck with my Furby VRS.

I'm reading this as two separate models, as it currently is. A 4wd VRS would step too much on Audi's toes. Here's hoping though :) 4x4 VRS Estate please :)

Same here! I'll buy 4x4 vRS in a heart beat. I agree though, it might tread on Audi's toes.

So what if it treads on Audi's toes, if the customer wants the product then ' Give the customer what they want '

Simplistic view. If the customer wants a fast 4x4 estate do not make a cheaper alternative, force them to buy a costly Audi by making it the only option.

Power in bhp seems different to other sources. I was expecting a tdi vRS with 184bhp.

Nothing new there though is there really? I thought the Scout and therefore 4x4 version were already confirmed and that the diesel VRS would be the new 185bhp vag unit, not a 175bhp version they mention. I just can't see a VRS model getting 4wd though.

I was also surprised by the power ratings. 200 for the petrol and 175 for the diesel. I hope thats wrong, its where we are now, more or less.

Im expecting 220/185.

I expect the 4x4 to use the 150 diesel engine. Theres a slight smidgeon of a chance the scout may have a 185, as its styling will not put it in the same place as the VRS. Then again, plastic trim is in fashion right now.

Sounds all wrong to me, expect the 4x4 to get 150 TDi and maybe the 1.8 TSi, same for Scout. The vRS will be 220ps 2.0 TSI (same as non Plus MK7 Golf GTi) and 184ps TDi, though I wonder if the vRS diesel will appear later to give the TSi more of a chance to get sales.

VRS most definitely will not get 4WD but should get 7 speed DSG finally.

" VRS most definitely will not get 4WD but should get 7 speed DSG finally. "

I'd prefer it if they stuck to the 6-speed, after all that I've read about jerkiness and unreliability with the 7-speed. The new Elegance TDI that I test-drove today had a 6-speed DSG as on my current vRS, and it was fine.

On hindsight i think it will actually retain the DQ250 6 speed wet box, the MK7 Golf GTi will too, makes sense as the box can handle the 258lb/ft max torque output (is rated at this). The next available transverse 7 speed wet box DQ500 was produced for the Audi TTRS and RS3, maybe the 7 speed is something that will come in later; certainly a prime candidate for the new diesel as that generates 280lb/ft.

I can vouch for the jerkiness of the dry 7 speed box, had one in my Fabia vRS and whilst I miss the extra ratio overall the 6 speed is a better smoother unit; has launch control too.

What is this jerky 7 speed dsg box? The 7 speed on my fabia vrs is silky smooth

I didn't find mine all that smooth at low speeds, the 6 speed is a bit smoother probably due to the clutches being lubricated it can slip the clutch a little better to smooth things out.....not all perfect though find on mine that it keeps going into 1st when in manual mode when crawling rather than staying in 2nd, 7 speed was better there.

Skoda 'will do a diesel version of the vRS,' - not really a scoop that is it? :wonder:

'thinking about a four-wheel-drive model. Maybe we’ll do a special edition, but nothing’s confirmed'. - nothing to see here, move along.

Need to be able to buy through the emergency vehicle dept then we would be happy as they offer the scout with the vrs power output

:p :p :p

Did someone say a VRS 4x4? ..... !!! Oh please let it be the eventual path the VRS takes ... please please!

Skoda Octavia vRS to get diesel power

15 March 2013

• Skoda plans a hot diesel Octavia

• Will appear at Goodwood later this year

• Four-wheel-drive version also considered

Skoda 'will do a diesel version of the vRS,' according to Skoda head Dr Winfried Vahland.

The hot Octavia will make its public debut at Goodwood motor show in July, and will be available as an estate and saloon.

Although the vRS will be front-wheel-drive only from launch, Vahland confessed that he was 'thinking about a four-wheel-drive model. Maybe we’ll do a special edition, but nothing’s confirmed'.

Expect the Octavia vRS to get a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine putting out more than 200bhp. It will do “more than 155mph” according to Vahland, while the 2.0 turbodiesel will produce a more modest 175bhp
