so what's the word on the street then? buy a ebay one or get a proper forge motorsport one?

Use an OEM valve as they are cheap and work perfectly.

No leaks to worry about

poor video but shows how effective a Bosch valve can be

i dont understand, if the oem ones are kosher then how do even the ebay kock offs even manage to sell any? they must do something otherwise they wouldnt exist to buy

The ebay ones sell because there shiney and cheaper than forge.

The forge ones sell because there shiney and expensive so must be good ;)

ok that is a fair point for the oem valve, i dont suspect that mine leaks at all, in fact it appears to work perfectly, i just assumed it was 'the norm' to fit one on engines that have been remapped. i'm not entirely sure how much boost mine is running tbh as i dont have a guage, maybe i should invest in a boost guage instead

I've done 7k on my ebay special in the past 2 months and it's fine. Time will tell if it'll lasts

does it pass a leak test ? You'd be surprised how much they can bleed off without you noticing

Mine? It holds boost just fine

does it pass a leak test, Badger5 style ?

Bubble bubble toil and trouble

I've not done that nor am I bothered to really.

The one ive bought is plain black and hidden underneath my engine cover. Not to bothered if its shiny or not as long as it works and works well when the car is remapped

Sorry but I'm putting standard one back on too, got an ebay special and its very quiet, non of the spings seem to get it to perform right and it makes my boost on the guage wobble!

The noise comes from the air being "DUMPED" into the cone filter IIRC, its exposed, so you hear the noise.

If your are using a AirBox then you won't hear the noise loud at all as the airbox muffles the sound.

You won't hear it when your Windows are open. Yet you should hear a little something when they are closed

Just to update the yellow spring does a much better job then the red one.

had my octet Vrs couple weeks. It already had a forge on it. how can I tel which one it is?

Also are they easy to open to look what springs in mine? I don't think my cars remapped cos it's not got that instant pull when out foot down. But I'll need to check somehow cos I want it mapping, there's a mobile guy near me who did my gttdi golf costs £150, but is there anything I should check/ ask him about remapping my Vrs,

Thanks

Mike

Couple of people have mentioned now that the valve makes little difference to the noise, but it really does.

My biggest problem with the eBay one I got is that you can barely hear it at all, to the point that I'm not sure it's actually working, put the standard back on and can hear it clearly.

Had the opposite on my old LCR when changing from standard, put a forge on and it was noticeably louder.

I'll stick with standard for now and might just buy a new OEM at some point

Somethings not right as my forge-ebay one works fine and makes a fair sound..louder than standard (with stock airbox)

So let me get this is to simple peoples terms. The OEM valve is quite loud as long as you have a cone filter on so you can hear it dumping into the air intake pipe.

Have we come to a conclusion as to what valve is the loudest? (OEM, Ebay or Forge diverter valves) or is this still up for debate?

Iv got a K&N going on this week and i still have the OEM valve fitted. Looking forward to hearing the results........

surely the valve itself makes no difference, its the pressure that makes the noise, the only difference the spring will make is at what pressure threshold it opens at

Probably worst thing you could do!
