Fabia 1.4 8v throttle pedal 2001

Featured Replies

Hi everyone....

Could someone please tell me if a lumpy tickover/poor throttle response could be attibutable to a dirty throttle pedal, please?

I have read other entries on this forum and others seem to have dismantled the pedal cleaned it up and it would appear that this is a fairly easy job to do. The problem I have is that there is a hesitation on pick up when I rev the engine. The engine management light is not on, by the way

Any comments/advice gratefully received etc.

Further question....If I change the throttle pedal for another used one (eBay etc.) does the car see it as just a replaced sensor or does it have to be 'coded' into the vehicle's computer set up (something which I am not able to do)?

Many thanks etc

Tom

Lumpy idle is 100% normal for an mpi, I get a very slight hesitation when going up the on ramp from cold about 2.2k rpm but other than that it's fine when pulling away. What are your revs doing when you pull away, any chance it's clutch related?

Thx for the reply.............Nah, no chance..Clutch is about 2 months old!! Tick over and pick up has been poor ever since we have had the car.low revs 3rd gear is v slow

Peak torque is at 2.5k, low revs in third is going to be slow, you're not in the correct part of the rev range to get the kind of response you're looking for.
