vRS discs and pads

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Looks like the brakes may be getting done soon, it has done 129K on them though!

A few questions, do these Brembo discs http://www.apbrakediscs.co.uk/front-brembo-brake-discs-skoda-octavia-ii-2-0-16v-tdi-rs-06-on.html come with an anti-rust coating like these Pagid ones http://www.carparts4...39736b74

Also, is one a better disc than the other because the Brembo's are suprisingly cheaper. If not, Brembo discs and Pagid pads work out at less than £150 for all 4 corners!

You can put any coating you want on a disc, as soon as you brake it's gone. All discs will come with a grease type coating, it there just for transport and is clean off on installation.

I used MTEC brakes they have a choice of coatings silver black and gold and you can get drilled grooved and all that fancy stuff for no extra cost. Think doing %10 off just now for their new website launch. All round I was £188 discs and pads black coating too. No rusty hubs for me.

Do they have an anti-rust coating?

What does it matter first few miles and that "anti rust coating" will be away, its purely for transport, like your car having transport wax and white plastic sheets on the larger panels.... for transport.

I got coated disc purely to get rid of the rust. The whole disc was black now it's just bare metal. However the hub part is still black and looks much better. That's why I opted for a coating. But yes the disc still rust if left for a couple days so it makes no odds there.

Obviously it would be pointless if the face of the disc had a coating but i'm referring to the 'hub' part of the disc, which rusts on discs without a coating.

I've got a set of Brembo discs on my Superb (standard size - nothing fancy) and the hubs have rusted really badly and look **** as a consequence, did so after less than a week. Not overly impressed with them in that respect. I intend to paint the hubs at some stage but not with the weather we have at the moment.

I replaced my Octavia discs with Pagid ones and they were fine, no rust on the hubs or anything.
