Calling Mk1 to Mk2 VRS Converts was it worth it?

Featured Replies

Hello!

Well I went into my local friendly Skoda Garage yesterday and cutting a long story short......

I have been offered a 2011 plate Mk2 Fabia VRS Estate in metalic blue with the the black and chrome wheels, one previous owner and only 9000 miles on it for a pretty dam good deal.

Now I love my MK1 VRS, but it's coming up to 730000 miles and getting no younger............

So Mk1 to Mk2 converts, was the swap worth it??????

The extra space of the estate I do need as I play in a band and ride mountain bikes so it will be used.

But what about the 1.4tfsi compared with the bullet proof PD130?

Running costs?

My commute is under 30 miles a day to work and back, I do the odd 100 mile round trip to my preffered mountain biking track about once per month.

Any thoughts, adivce, or comments would be massivley helpfull!!

730k miles? Now that is a lot!

I was sorry to see the MK1 vRS go but after test driving the MK2 I was happy to place the order. Fuel consumption would be the first noticeable difference but then as nigh-on 180bhp is being wrung out of a 1.4 you have to expect a bit of a trade-off (opens the floodgates!).

The often quoted subject of oil consumption has not really been an issue and it has used less than 0.5l in the last 3k miles so well within tolerances.

Otherwise I have been happy with the new model and I will be curious to see the next Fabia vRS but am quite taken with the idea of a sporty model of the Rapid.
