Cigarette socket playing up???

Featured Replies

Had a search and it seems no one has mentioned a similar issue so here goes.

I have a '03 Octy VRs and when I plug in my phone charger (Motorola V975) to the cigarette socket the light on the charger illuminates but the phone isn't charging?? Took the charger back to the carphone warehouse and it worked in store on my phone.....there going to send me official Motorola one in post this week.

Also was bought a tyre compressor for Christmas with the digi display and was ok in previous car, 2nd use in the Octy the display went haywire!

So exchanged it and the new one did the same first go!

Does anyone know if the Octy socket is wired the other way round to say Jap cars? or if it pumps out a weird voltage??

Going to dig out my multimeter at the weekend but does any one have any previous on the sockets in the Octy?

NC. :)

Yeah I've had similar problems with phone chargers in my Vrs. Tried a compressor today(to blow up kiddies ball pool) and that worked fine tho:confused:.

I have not had any probs with mine, initially i used a phone charger until i installed a full hands free kit now i just use a special light that plugs into it (high output) never had a problem with it.

I got my RS when it was 2 years old and my cigarette lighter has never worked.

I checked the fuses, but their all fine.

Never bothered to have it investigated by the dealer as it's not really an issue for me.

one kniwn problem with cigar lighter is the rear child lock on the rear windows (thwe button on the drivers door panel which stops the rear windows being used via the rear switches) make sure this is not on if it is it also cuts out the cigar lighter regards k.

The cigar lighter being linked to the window lock sucks. That kept me flummoxed for ages.

Sat nav now works again - until such time as I want to keep any kids in the back on the straight and narrow.
