Cooling fan problem

Featured Replies

I have a problem with the auxilliary cooling fans on my 2006 2.0 vRS. After a 15 mile trip, I found the fans both running, even though the Temp guage was in the normal range. After about 10 minutes, I returned to the car for the trip back home to find the fans still running. Very low coolant temp on arrival, fans still running. I did what I could to sort the fault, but no luck. I then needed a jump start to get it to a local Skoda dealer, this was as they were closing, so all they could do was disconnect the fuse. On returning to the dealer for further diagnostics, they tell me I need 2 new fans, at a cost of well over £600. Surely, if the fans are running, something is telling them to run, an engine temp sensor of some kind? I don't see how fitting £600 of working parts will fix my 2 working fans. They did put it on diagnostic, and said there were no fault codes, by the way.

Any help or thoughts VERY gratefully received!

Chris.

MAF is Mass Air Flow Pipe? Can you point me in the right direction for that, please! I have looked at your list, there is a guy close to were I work, so once I check the connection is ok, then I can get the sensor looked at. I have to say, I understood from the Main Dealer there was no sensor, which I find a bit odd, as what would tell the Fans to switch on/off.... Many thanks for your input, confirms some of my thoughts on Dealers....

Thanks for the pics, Plantman. My partner has the car for a couple of days, so cannot check right now, but that is just what I need!
