Wheel swap for a week

Featured Replies

Is there anyone in the north west who would mind swapping wheels for a week. Im looking for 17x7, preferably the standard spyder alloys. At the moment I have 18x8 rs6 alloys and I believe this is the reason why why my mpg has fallen by 5mpg.

Replica wheels are usually considerably heavier than the equivalent size OEM/Branded alloy wheels due to cheaper construction. Also were you running 205's previously as wider tyres will also effect economy.

Did you run 225/45/17 tyres prior to wheel change?

If got an approx 10% drop when changing to 225/45/17 which I thought was acceptable. Bigger contact patch will give increased surface resistance so and fall in mpg is to be expected.

That said on motorway runs I can still see 40mpg keeping to roughly the NSL...and I'm running 18''s.

Previously I had the standard rs alloys with 205/50/17. The tyres on the rs6 wheels are 225/40/18.
