Where's Tyre pressure sensor and ESP gone!

Featured Replies

Hi all, I just saw Yeti man's post regarding chrome window surrounds and I too have a query! I was looking at an Octavia 3 in a dealership a couple of days ago (1.6 tdi Elegance) and noticed that there was no ESP or TPS switch. I'm pretty sure that looking at the spec/brochure pictures for this model that they are standard. It had the Start/Stop switch and the driving mode switch, can anyone shed any light on this?

Oh I have to point out that at the moment i'm in the UK and not Germany! :giggle:

I was under the impression that for type approval now cars had to have both?

It may no longer be switchable (ESP). On the newer Audi, the TPMS is reset via the stereo/MMI, it's probably the same on the Octy.

After poodling around in an Elegance for the past couple of days, and basically touching everything possible :o from what I think I've found is that all the settings are now in the 'Vehicle Data/Setup' within the Prat Nav (sorry Amundsen).

Hope that helps

Hi

Everything is done through the display now rather than having lots of buttons everywhere. ESP is now called ESC due to Bosch claiming the copyrights to the "ESP". The display you now see is only very thin with nothing behind it because the radio ECU is now inside the glovebox. So basically they've moved on from the old style radio.

Also you can only partially turn off the ESC as new laws are coming in that make it illegal to fully turn it off.

Will be interesting to see if this has any impact on ICE theft, but I imagine your average scrote is just going to rip out whatever he can see on the console.

I believe that they are all security coded to the car. So if you fit it to another car it needs to be coded by the dealer. If you do get it working and it's not been given the ID of the car that it is in then the car will know it's not right. Then for good measure the next time it turns up at the dealer and they plug in the diagnostic machine the car will send out a message to Skoda who in turn call the local police and they will turn up at the garage to investigate as it reports itself as a stolen vehicle. As far as I know this is fully working on the Octavia 3 so be warned if you try swapping parts from your mates car.
