VRS MK II Service

Featured Replies

It is now time for our Fabia MK II to have its second service as it is two years old, fair enough I hear you say.

I have had some oil consumption issues with the car and last year it had four oil changes in the twelve months, the last of these was just in November when the final consumption test was carried out and the car deemed acceptable for oil usage.

So I asked the dealer about the second service, he tells me it is £230, would I like to book it in? Bearing in mind this is for oil and filter, a pollen filter and a visual inspection, our car has done just over 6,000 miles in two years!

I asked about the oil and as it was new along with the filter at the last consumption test I suggested maybe just change the pollen filter and do the visual checks, this was £159.

I am now considering just getting the car serviced by an independent garage so as I can get the book stamped up, what are the warranty implications when using independents and would SUK have issue with this?

I am more than capable to service the car myself but I will need the book stamping too.

As far as I know, provided the service items are carried out and genuine Skoda parts are used then there should be no problem with the warranty. An official looking stamp in the book will look better but not strictly necessary (I believe). What you may lose out on is dealer and Skoda good will should anything go wrong beyond the standard warranty.

yes as long as you get skoda parts should be no problems, ive just sved over a £150 pounds on a 40k service, just shows you how much skoda charge.

How much were they looking for with the 40,000 mile service?

Did you get new plugs fitted within that £150 saving?.

James I,

Since its a new engine i might be inclined to Stick with Skoda just for the sake of Warranty & Goodwill on the Engine and possible gearbox troubles.

You can go for VAT Reg Places etc.

But you are not getting any ECU updates done, (not a worry to you this time)

& if any warranty work needs doing, you will be getting a report just, and be visiting the Skoda workshop anyway.

*Someone else posted this week with an Invoice for a 2nd 20,000 mile service with a very over the top price.

£230 is a stupid price. But £159 for what you need is just taking the Pith. IMHO.

£177 in Scotland most places and thats an expensive price.

Pollen filter replaced,

then Oil & Filter, plug and disposal which you do not need.

So Inspection Service, Fluids checked, so should be down to about £100 max.

No wheels are coming off, no Brake fluid change, Nothing really.

washer fluid, check tyres and pressures or not.

They top up the Antifreeze, then it sets its own level before you get home.

Rip off really.

£230 is just a silly price. I had mine done 2 weeks ago and the total on the invoice for the second service was £183 (although I didn't pay anything due to my service plan I got on the cheap).

I know £230 is ridiculous hence not paying it! I see what leaseplan pay for service costs on the Yeti and the dealership can make money at them prices so why rip joe public off.

I will get the book stamped by independent garage and take my chance, the guys at CentralVWAudi in Ellesmere Port will do a proper job.
