New switch fitted = still not working!

Featured Replies

My passenger window does not work, neither does my one touch on the drivers side, I thought this may be the switch and picked one up cheap! But that didnt cure it :@ does anyone know what it would be exactly? thanks

May be the convenience unit but someone with more technical knowledge may be able to help

might sound daft but have you tried resetting it? hold both switches up (asif closing windows) on drivers side then turn ignition on?

One touch can be reset using the key in the door (see owners manual for exact procedure as i forgot). long shot but may trick passenger one into action

Check the wiring in the door hinges. If you can get a cheap window switch for the other side it's worth a shot as they work of a circuit.

I'm rubbish with auto-electrics but my best advice would be to check the wires that run from the footwells to into the doors.

Good luck.

Also tried that too :(

Its just strange how the passenger side window does not work at all the the one touch does not work on the drivers side, they both happened at the same time, i just dont want to be buying parts like a window reg if its not going to be that

Have you tried just leaving the battery off a short while?

I had a similar experience and found that the drivers side motor has an ECU built into it that controls both windows - mine failed:

Does the window reg fit out of any fabia with front electric wondows? thanks

Mine used to stop working, then when I came to work out what was going on it magically had fixed its self.

Happened on my mk2 the other day

Its soo annoying, i never use the passenger window but i love the fact of having my one touch! Think i may order the drivers side unit

i think some one said in another thread that theirs had got water in causing a similar prob ? may be worth an investigation before opening your wallet

actually to be honest my central locking on the passenger side got water in it and my alarm kept going off. So i disconnected it about 3 months ago now, i think i will be taking the door cards off at the weekend :(

door card and carrier lol not ideal in this weather

Its a good job i have my own garage then lol

does it wind down using the key? cant remember if my fabia does but with other vw's ive had if you unlock and hold the unlock position using the key in drivers door the windows came down, might be worth a shot.

Door cards and carriers may not be necessary. Pop the rubber tube and connection off in the front near the hinge where it goes into the body. Dry out etc and reassemble. I'm sure I fixed something by doing that to mine but can't remember what now. Mau save you a lot of unnecessary work!
