Virgin Mobile

Any good?

I'm thinking of this deal LINK which seems pretty good, 200 minutes crossnet, anytime and the phone is a nice one. But it would only cost me

I've used Virgin for several years. First phone was a Siemens S25 which was OK. I then replaced it with a "returned" S35 - if you ring them up you can get phones which are as new but returned under the money back guarantee for much less than the normal price. I then wanted a Sony Ericcson T610 but at the time Virgin didn't do it - so I bought a SIM free one from Expansys.

I've only once or twice tried dialling to find the network full. I do occasionally get "missed" calls which I know I'd have been in service range at the time (e.g. the M4/M5 junction) - and I assume the service was overloaded.

Customer service is 10p fixed rate from a Virgin mobile or on 0845 from a landline. I've only called them twice from memory. Quickly sorted both times.

Both your links though are not strictly a Virgin phone though. I'm on "pay as you go" albeit paid monthly by direct debit - Virgin themselves don't do contracts...

I'd certainly go for the Sony Ericcson one...

And where do you get your quote from: "it would only cost me

So VRStu (who gets his sums right first time... :) ) how do you think the "12 months free" works on the site RichardEames was looking at - similar to how you've outlined above?

I assumed that it was 12 months free (I know I would have to claim it back) and then

They even answer the fone with "which handset are you going to buy?"

Offers

With many of our offers the price/package that the equipment is advertised for is dependent on the specific tariff being selected. If you subsequently change the tariff within the periods detailed below, a purchase price variance will be charged to you. This will be based on the new tariff price minus the original tariff price you signed up to. Unfortunately, if the new tariff price is less than the original tariff price we will not be able to provide a refund of the difference.

Please note that should you change your tariff within these periods, either up or down, the start date of the contract with the network provider starts again. We strongly recommend that you do not change your tariff within these periods.

I don't like the sound of the last paragraph - I'm not sure thats legal. No mention of Virgin though - Take it and drop it after the first month :D
