90bhp to 110bhp easy change ?

Featured Replies

hello, i have a slx octavia 110bhp at the mo, im looking at getting another runaround but its a 90bhp engine, i believe its the same engine so could i do a ecu swap or is it more involving to get the extra bhp

also question about roof rails on estate, are they an easy retro fit item

many thanks for all your help in advance

great site so much info

cheers

steve

I believe the big difference is they have different injectors. Pretty sure Lofty or someone else changed the injectors, increased the fueling and remapped for a similar power figure compared to a tdi110 that was remapped.

Don't quote me on anything i've said though. Its probably all wrong.

early 90s had a wastegate on the turbo, later 90s were VNT based (which is what is on the 110).

Lofty certainly changed the injectors and did various other bits of tinkering, but somehow seemed to get great mpg figures too....

From what I understand removing the EGR will improve MPG which practically everyone seems to do other than me. I guess it might offset bigger injectors/more boost.

Not in winter and even a little mixed driving. Warmup time extended to infinity for as long as you drive around town. After it's warmed up, yes, it is saving a little bit of fuel, much more for floks who had leaky EGR valve. So IMHO it is only worth doing if you have a genuine trouble with EGR already.

A stage 1 remap should see a 90 on about 120bhp.

The hardest part of fitting roof rails is probably getting a good condition set, and the cut black plastic trim for the roof under them.

I did roof rails and injectors on my 90, roof rais is easy, but make gaskets to stop leaks where they are bolted. The ones I got didnt have anything and leaked like hell, till i chopped up an inner tube! Injectors... hours work and dont drop a cotton bud down there like someone already mentioned in this thread..... I think he ran the engine and it came out as smoke!!!

I have a 90 bhp and stuck a set of 110bhp injectors in it (free from my brother).. Also fitted a DIY tuning box.. I think the wee turbo on the 90's run out of puff at about 130bhp.. mine def goes well enough now..

My brother has a 110 ibiza, he has large nozzles in it, tuning box, de-cat and 3 bar map sensor, he has also done the hammer mod on the pump.. his is a rocket, it's good for a 330i BMW and still does over 50mpg with spirited driving..

I have info on nozzles sizes etc if you need it.. nozzle swap is easy, just need new copper washers to make sure they seal correctly..

I'm wanting to do the same upgrade on my '03 tdi estate which came without. I managed to pick up a set of rails from a breaker but I'm unsure if the mounting points are already in my roof or whether I have to start from scratch.

Also unclear on how much of the roof lining has to come down/out?

Any wisdom gratefully received ...

Regards, Mike

The holes are already there, if I remember correctly there is bungs in there that you pull out. You need to take the handles off the lining and I think sunvisors too just to pull it down low enough to get to. Its easy, it has to be if I managed it!
