Young driver insurance

Featured Replies

I'm 19 now with 1 ncb and a claim, I'm with admiral on multicar and pay 500 atm fully comp (I'm not sayin what car cos it's just a run about 1.3 engine) when I change to a fabia vrs it only goes up to 630 with coilovers and alloys

I always ring the insurance to do the deal once I have got the quote online, as have had instances with my old roomster where hastings was good price but when I rang them to confirm price it went up by £300 due to tow bar and something else, at which point I told thanks but no thanks and moved onto another insurance

always worth ringing to confirm you have everything you want (protected no claims, curtesy car etc) and confirm any extra's you have don't alter the price as not all options seem to pass through when they get the quotes

don't forget these sharks try everything to avoid paying out, so tell them everything and don't leave them any options to not pay out

they have the get out clause YOU have to inform them / disclose everything or you have failed to disclose info that could affect your premium and insurance

Not since 6/4 - THEY have to ask.

Of course, you still have to be honest with your answers if they do ask.

£900 is without protected NC, Courtesy Car etc. Protecting NC will add another £100+ which takes it over £1000, which is a complete joke.

I really don't understand how some people have got it so much cheaper, I live in a respectable area, albeit (very rarely) some cars have been stolen in the past from people from nearby(ish).

Hi Camble, I'm in the same post code but sadly I honestly think they class this as merseyside and not Cheshire. My insurance is with admiral and around the same price as your first quote on a fabia vRS. I'm 26 and many other insurance providers simply wouldn't give me a quote at all.

Good luck with your search.

Which company's that with? Really cheap tbh

At 19 with a claim, Im amazed its even in 3 digits.

I've just got a quote of £680 with Premium Choice. I'm a bit weary as I've read some good and bad reviews, but its a saving of £300.

I tried Sky Insurance and unfortunately they couldn't quote me :(

Would you guys go with PC?

Just to let you know. I ended up getting onto Greenlight, who offered me an excellent level of cover etc for £659 fully comp.

So I've paid and I'm sorted for another year!

Saved £300 on Admiral's renewal price!

Have you considered one of the black box trackers? Having one fitted could reduce your premiums enough to make it worthwhile. Other than that it's a case of hunting around. Have you got your parents on as named drivers? That can work out cheaper too as the insurance companies see older named drivers as a good influence on younger drivers.

I've sorted it now mate.

I was getting quotes between £900 and £1000 from Admiral (renewal), Aviva, etc.

I got a quote of £685 from Premiun Choice, but I was a little weary of using them as I'd seen some worrying reviews.

In the end I called Greenlight, who I've now gone with for £659 fully comp for the year. It was cheaper for me on my own rather than having my Dad on, which I thought was surprising, but I'm just so glad that I've got it for a good price in the end!

I was with Premium Choice a few years ago, didn't have a problem. In fact, when I wrote off my Polo GTI they paid out more than it was worth - don't think they realised all 6n2 GTIs came with Xenon's lol.

Of course, you still have to be honest with your answers if they do ask.

I'd love to see anyone prove that they were not asked!
