I think your right. Do you think there will be any deformity to the bar? Will it be a case of fitting the new bushes and if the bar won't go back in place thats how I'll tell?

 

No deformity will happen as a solid bar.

 

The bar will go back and may stay where it should with tighter new bushes clamped on it.

 

It is very common for the plastic sleeves to break off these ARB... If you have the STD 19mm FARB , VW/Skoda  tend to smack off any sleeving left behind and fit 17mm ARB bushes and job done.

    I used 17mm superpro bushes on a standard bar with no plastic collars. They went on no bother at all ( using a long bolt first ) its driving fine too just past an m.o.t today.

    I would knock them off and fit 17mm ones, otherwise you may find yourself doing them again in the neat future.
