No Battery Light

Featured Replies

As the title says really. I've used the search button but not quite the answer im looking for. I have no battery warning light at all on my 04 Fabia VRS. Both wires to alternator replaced tonight, battery is charging at 14.5 volts so alternator is working but still no battery light when i switch the ignition on. Any suggestions welcome. Sorry if this is the wrong section.

Okay, you have replaced both wires to their correct places, when you start the car without reving it, have you checked the charging voltage? It has been said that the alternator will charge without this wire if reved up a bit then allowed to tick over. I wonder if either the bulb has failed - see previous sentance to see why the alternator might still be charging "okay", or if this alternator point/function has failed as it is effectively a "switch" that switched that light out by feeding 12 volts on the other end of that bulb - so it ends up with roughly 12 volts on both sides = bulb never lit.

Yep, replaced both wires and checked with mulitmeter. Started the car with out revs and it was 14.5v, reved the car to 3k and it stays at 14.5v. Reving makes no difference. I thought the dash was LED and not bulbs.

Any other suggestions?

Just check you have a good connection on the wires you repaired.

Sorry should read - this is what was wrong with mine.

I've checked the connection, i didn't bodge the new wires either, properly soldered and heat shrinked. Alternator is charging the battery as well, all checked with multimeter. I'm at an absolute loss.

there are two wire on the passenger side what shear off, signal load wires i think they are called. Common fault on fabia's for them to break. this causes the battery warning light to not show. Had to do it on mine before, although there is a guide on here somewhere its just finding the thread! haha

Yep i got this battery voltage issue too and prolem was those 2 wires. And all so this battery pic didnt show up

The 2 wires are mint. New wires all the way from the alternator back past the connectors. Removed them totally, soldered and heat shrunk.

Im not being funny mate but if they were mint the battery light would work properly. Id double check them again and clean all the connections up to be sure.Other than that, the bulb could be broken but theyre LEDs so i very much doubt it.

The wire have been totally renewd and checked, the only 2 things it can be are a break further up in the loom or the LED has failed. The wires from the alternator past the plug buy the gearbox are mint hence why im at a loss.
