Car won't start

Featured Replies

Hi every one my car won't start it did this two weeks ago we jumped started it and has run fine till this morning battery dead again

Looked at battery and there is no indicater light at all its blank

So could rhis just be a bad battery

Sounds like your battery has had it,is it the original?

Is it a reasonably new battery? Less than 4 or 5 years old?

Maybe its the alternator/charger circuit that's not re-charging the battery properly: either delivering no charge which will flatten the battery; or too much, which will cook the battery .

In any event the battery is probably knackered now. Get a new one, but also if you can do a simple charging check with a voltmeter after you fit it.

As far as I know its the original battery

You've done well mate. I changed my battery last year following some hot starting problems and its been spot on since. There are plenty of posts on here regarding the poor quality of batteries fitted by Skoda.

Change your battery, and fingers crossed, all will be OK.

Hope this helps

FP.

"Won't start" isn't a terribly good description of the problem. Does nothing at all happen when you turn the key to start, or does the starter motor spin normally without the engine actually firing up?

A duff battery does all sortd of weird things to the Octy but generally a new one will sort it out.

Mine was replaced last year 56 plate as it was getting weak. Use BRISK25 for 25% off at Eurocarparts , I got a Bosch s4

Ye the car wanted to fire but just couldn't turn over all the clocks reset to 0 fitted new battery and seems fine now. Looked at the old one think one of the cells had gone as it was white halfway down

Get the throttle body re aligned with vag com, it will run better, they need to be reset on TFSI engines , after disconnected ,especially if mapped
