Felicia instrument panel bulbs

Please can some one tell me I have several bulbs gone in the intrument panel like dip/main beam/ on my 1999 Skoda Felicia 1.3.

The Haynes says they are 1.2w with a blue holder and the bulbs are integral with the holders, so I wish to purchse the say 5 or 10 before I start the job.

Can some one send me a link or a good discription of what I should look for on EBay.

Or are these the ones I need --

OSRAM 286TAC 12v 1.2W T5 instrument panel light bulb & holder x 10

Or these -

12v 1.2w B8.4D (Blue base) Indicator & panel bulb - Ring - R509TMBL*Pack of 10*

Since the rest of the forum geezers are too busy asking philosophical questions, I will answer your question.

All indicator lights on Felicia are 12V 1.2W B8,5d - the color of the holder is blue or black

All background lights on Felicia are 12V 2W B8,5d - the color of the holder is green

I understand these panel lights will now come under the MOT (UK) so if they do not work then your car will fail the MOT.

i got some if needed as i have just converted mine to led yes they are the blue ones 1.2w you could always take them out of say airbag light if no air bags seat belt light choke light if thats any help to you

uma1998 I sent you a private message do you still have the panel bulbs with blue holders I have sent for two lots of bulbs and both times they do not fit, the ones with black holders do not fit (any one want them free let me know) so has any one got any Osram 12v 1.2w panel bulbs for a Felicia 1999 1.3 I need about 3.

Or can some one send me details of were I may obtain any.

I have used up the spare ones in the panel that are not used.

Do you find Felicia dashboard background lighting bright enough at night compared to other cars?

The standard dashboard background lights are Ok for me at night when they work,

At the moment I can not find any bulbs to replace the ones that have blown I have purchased several and they do not fit.

The 12v 1.2w B8.5d BLACK holder ones do not fit. The one that are fitted have a blue holder.

I have had my Felicia from new and is 14 years old and I wish to keep it BUT if I can not find any bulbs for the dash lights the car will not pass the MOT here in the UK I know it sounds a bit drastic bit that is the fact. The car is in a lovely condition for the year and I love it.

SO WOULD SOME KIND PERSON PLEASE LINK ME TO WHERE I CAN PURCHASE 3 12V 1.2W DASH BULBS FOR A 1999 FELICIA

still working on red needles or so got red led foot well lights even done mirror switch and electric window switchs

It looks good, but far too bright, perhaps a Day/Night switch to lower the lumen output at night??? (or wire it into the existing switch that dims/brightens the display when the external lights are switched on.

 

Certainly the extended life expectancy of LEDs make them a perfect replacement for the existing bulbs; they should outlive the rest of the car!!!!

Felicia's dashboard background light is very dim, no matter if those 4 bulbs / 2 Watt are new or not. One cheap solution is to clean the existing green lacquer behind each marking (by wet sanding) and to repaint with thinner lacquer. The other solution is to use 4 or 8 miniature very bright LEDs that emit light at 180 degrees instead of those original 4 bulbs. It's quite tricky to find the right LEDs that fit in the slots cut for lighting guide. I find very important to have uniform lighting, not bright blotches all over.

 

 

I also believe a better design of existing dashboard would make more pleasant every trip. See for yourself.

don't apologise to me, I'm not having a stab at anybody, there are certain posts that have been tidied from this thread to which I was referring, i should have made that clearer...

yes, its not ideal to have dash lights that bright, it would drive me mental personally.

It all depends if you have access to a good color laser printer that can print on transparent plastic sheets. The black part of dials should be flawless, otherwise they'll look like a LCD monitor with bad pixels. But anyways, printing your own dials is better over wet sanding green portions from original ones. White markings will make dials more visible during the day. Throw in for good measure some chrome rings (2 big for speedometer/tachometer, and 2 small for temp/fuel) and people will envy your new, modern dash.

A lifetime ago, I had a Ford Escort with the electroluminescent instrument cluster. Lights off: black numbers in white background. Lights on, black numbers on a green glowing background. A bit weird at first, but not for long. On full, they were never bright by any stretch of a sane imagination.

Really? Then share from your knowledge in detail how to make an electro-luminescent dashboard for Felicia, not just a vague description. Add also the costs to your list of materials. Because if we're talking about possibilities, one Felicia owner could install a BMW dashboard too. Or an UFO dashboard. I'll choose the green one.

Have you found out if they do MPH dials, as the ones they show are all KPH.

 

I intend to concentrate of getting SWMBOs car straight and free of rust before I start looking at tarting it up, but I will be keeping an eye on some of these dash mods.

I found a way to dim all dash lights even my bright dash lights and all the led switchs and still on oem wireing and even have electric head light adjustment and self leveling
