first impressions.. Okay

Featured Replies

one of my taxi driver mates got a brand new 13 plate rapid to put on as a new taxi to replace his 07 plate black octavia. Its a 1.6 tdi in the nice new blue colour and he is the 3rd in this area to put a rapid on and there are 2 toledo's and when they are sat beside each other it is scary how much the look the same. i took his rapid for a spin round the carpark where we usually wait for hire's in, and must say the interior is a bit bland and the dash feels quite close to you but the handling seems okay but the rear legroom just passes the requirements for the legroom and width of the base in this area but when we compared it to my 1.6 tdi 62 plate superbs legroom its not to good, he said it will get some getting used to but he does like the color,as do i. it looks beautiful

It will be interesting to read more of these as the rapid gets more popular. I think the new Octavia is too big for my future needs so probably looking at either a rapid or another yeti next time around.

Woudn't expect the Rapid to rival the Superb for rear leg room to be fair as it is a fair bit shorter but it's much much better in that respect than the Octy1 which was a popular taxi.

Of course the main body shell for the Rapid/Toledo is the same but I thought they have done a pretty good job of differentiating the two actually. I wouldn't have thought that most "normal" people would recognise they are the same car.

yes i had 3 mk1 octavia's, a 51 plate,55 plate and a 57 plate. the mk1 octavia's rear leg room is terrible, luckily i need the seat quite far fowward so it didn't affect rear passengers that much, i was considering a rapid when buying my new car in December but thought the rear seats might not pass the requirements for the council
