How do i work out what engine code my car has ?

Featured Replies

I want to get a timming belt kit for my car but how do i work out which engine my car has ? Its a 51 plate tdi octavia ?

110BHP?? That'll be an ASV engine at that year.

Also, sticker inside front cover of service book or on boot floor will state engine code.

it's the first 3 letters of the engine number on the log book

Look on the sticker under the carpet in the boot or in the log book it will say ALH, ASV, AGR, AHF something like that beside Engine Code.

I checked out the service book and V5, Youre correct its an ASV, The place i was looking to buy the belt kit said my car had an AHF engine which is why i checked as i thought it was wrong, I went back to them saying is a ASV engine and they say its the same belt kit.

Its on ebay and its a good price for a gates kit at £90.

Then i just want to kit a good water pump and i am ready for the job ! I know that VAG had a problem with the plastic impellors coming off the pumps shafts.

If it stays dry this weekend, I'm going to change mine.

just be sure to check your pump timing afterwards with vcds. so easy to be miles out without realizing.
