Tried to order a new Superb on Thursday. Wanted a 1.8 TSI Elegance in Silver with a couple of options. I was astonished to find out that they wouldn't let me order one! Apparently the order book is full for pre-FL cars. They will start to produce FL cars from week 22 but prices and technical specs are not yet published.

Since there is nothing in the current order book that matches (or is even close to) my requirements, I had to just leave my contact details so they can get back to me once the FL prices/specs are out.

That's a blow! It had to happen soon, but I'm surprised they've closed the order books this early.

Been a few weeks since I've toured the showrooms, but they seemed to have at least one Superb in each - surely these are now all available for purchase, can't they find you a stock one?

I've spoken to a couple of dealers, and they both told me the same thing - according to the computer there is only one 1.8 Elegance Twindoor available in the UK and it's not really what I'd want. The mail telling the dealers to stop new orders was sent just over a week ago I think.

Gutted.....My company is in the middle of ordering a SE Plus Greenline II Estate and I need it by August.....I don't really want to downgrade to a Passat

Did they give any idea when they would start taking orders?

Got the impression they thought they'd get the details in 2 or 3 weeks and start taking orders then. The mail from Skoda just said 'shortly'.

Week 22 is end of May so there should be time to get one built for end of August if you get your order in quick?

I think the FL may be presented at the Shanghai motorshow in April so expecting some official photos in the next 2/3 weeks.

Might be some deals to be had if they want to get rid of the ones sitting about
