1.6 tdi 105 holding onto revs.

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I noticed recently that when I am accelerating, I push the go peddle down (obviously) until I wish to change up a gear. When I'm ready I lift off the go peddle and the revs hold steady for about 1 second before the revs start to drop. Is this normal? I ask because I'm scared of damaging the clutch by changing gear when some throttle is still being applied (by the car automatically, not by my right foot). While the revs are holding steady the engine sounds the same as when you are pressing the accelerator before the revs start to drop. I only noticed this recently...

nope, not normal

you got any mats ? are they fixed properly and not crept forward a bit

if you have mats , pop the drivers out and take it for a drive and see if it disappears, if not off to dealers is my thought, sticky accelerator peddle most likely or failing accelerator potentiometer

Thank you for The reply. My mats are the official skoda ones with holes to clip onto the little nipple things in the carpet to stop the mats moving. I'll remove it anyway to check...
