climatronic not getting cool enough...... got the codes

Featured Replies

hi

since i got the car a year or so ago ive been doubtful that the AC is working properly. other people seem to have theirs set at 22ish degrees, i need to set it at 16 to be comfortable. assuming im a normal human being (shhhh :-) then there seems to be a prob with the AC.

its a 57 lauren and klement, and has climatronic. it was regassed best part of a year ago, and i cant remember whether i was happy with the results or whether i was still uncertain. if it did make a difference, then that didnt last long. does that suggest a leak? broken components?

ive done a bit of googling, looked on the forum at other threads, and seen the self diagnostic test (recirculate + econ buttons). the 2 codes i got are '2cc' (with the second c being a bit higher than the first) on the LH side, and '00h' on the right. does that mean anything to anyone? is there anything else i can try?

thanks for any suggestions.

Anyone able to help me out with this?

Thanks

I would start with a diagnostic scan to see what fault codes are logged.

Yeah? So it'd show a fault would it if say there was a leak? I spose I was thinking that as long as it thinks its kicking out a certain temp, it'd carry on with no faults, even if the temp was actually warmer than it should be.

Any credence to that thought?

Thanks :-)

VCDS scan and check the following

Code for compressor shut off 0

Actual compressor current 0.820 amps

Specified compressor current 0.820 amps

Outside temp

Evap temp

Interior temp

If shut off code is zero, the actual and specified currents and temps all match to one another the compressor is goosed. Will need a new compressor and system flush with a new drier.

Ive got to say that means nothing to me, but thanks, I'll get it in and mention these codes :-)

Do those codes in my OP mean anything to you?

Thanks a lot

Could be a dodgy sensor somewhere. I had to have some replaced because air was too cold - I couldn't get any heat.

Sarge.
