Aftermarket Double Din Unit for Octavia II

Featured Replies

Having started the thread about trying to put a Bolero unit into my 05 Plate octavia and reading with increasing doom the amount extra I will have to pay to get it to work. I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that it would be cheaper and more efficient to put an aftermarket unit in instead (although it won't look anywhere near as good...)

I'm currently very tempted by this:

http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/products/car/cd_receivers/double_din/DPX405BT/

and I figure all I'm going to need is

1) Harness adaptor

2) Facia plate

Will I need anything else?

Very smart radio mate, i'm also going to look for a nice double DIN radio soon maybe a Pioneer or Alpine?

I don't know much about this side of things but when reading about aftermarket stereos there's an issue with power due to the stereo always receiving power and the canbus signal telling the unit when to switch on or off. If they unit doesn't support canbus communication then it will need a wire fitting to the fuse box to give it a switched live or something, I could be talking rubbish but something you may need to look into. I've also seen comments about the aerial needing a booster if fitted to an aftermarket unit.
