Does privacy glass offer UV protection

Featured Replies

As the title suggests does the privacy glass on the estate offer UV protection? I am picking up an L&K on Saturday and wonder if I need to buy blinds for the rear doors to provide protection for our 8 month old baby?

I doubt it, but you need to ask. UV filter films are available, but more expensive

Dont think so, only front windscreen has a UV blocker on it to my knowledge.

Best to get UV filter films as already suggested.

I can't see them being any less UV protecting than in the Fabia (which Skoda says is UV protecting), see linky: http://www.skoda.co.uk/models/HotspotDetail?HotspotName=Fabia%20Hatch%20-%20Sunset%20glass&WebID=33f5dbe3-1051-401b-b3d9-1829cded068c&Page=exterior

But you should also check with the supplying dealer.

If you do choose to get blinds, I would recommend the vanstyle ones - they are a tailored fit into not just the rear passenger doors, but the luggage windows as well. So long as you can live with a line down the middle of the rear screen.

All glass gives UV protection. The UV levels here are several times higher than Europe and I've never been sunburnt behind any type of glass.

Tinted glass is much better at cutting out infra red (i.e. heat). The solar heat and privacy are the reasons I put screens in. I plan for tints, but my tinting guy is really slow. He still hasn't finished my first car.

Nope, it's a dyed-glass - just just like normal glass but a bit darker...

... new car has been applied with a film - choice of colours and blocks more UV.
