Are the garages offering me a good price?

Featured Replies

Hello

I am thinking (only thinking!) of selling my Fabia Vrs. Not because I don't like it because I do but I'm a bit of a sad techology nut and I'm thinking of buying a Citroen C4 (don't scream!) for all the bits and bobs if I can find one at the right price.

I don't really want to sell my Fabia privately as although you get a better price you never really know who is going to turn up at the door. So as they are a popular car I've approached a few Skoda dealers. I know it's not a science but I'd like to know if people think I'm being offered a fair price.

2004 04 Reg Met Black Vrs with cruise. 2 owners 17K miles. FSH

Best offer locally

sounds a good price to me for a 12k car a year old

extra's don't normally but the price up just make it easier to sell

Are you sure those prices are not based on the assumption that you will buy from the dealer? I can't see how a one 1 to 1.5 year old car can only have lost so little. If I was offered

I'd say 9800 is a good price for a straight sell... however, after owning 3 peugeots and 1 citreon in the last 7 years, i'd like to warn you away from joining the 'dark side' - never had so many problems and i'd never buy any of them again after having the skoda for over a year :)

Go for a C4 hmmmm, it will be worth about 12p in 6 months time, seriously they are one of the worst depreciating Marques on the market because of their discount policy wiping sometimes 10% - 20%+ off the list price destroys their residuals.

All mickey taking apart, if you bought a 12k C4 today, in 12 months you would be looking at dealers offering you between 6 - 7k. This is assuming your looking at new and not used.

That is pretty good for the fabia price to so if you where really really wanting one then snap their hands off, just don't expect anything like that if you get bored with a C4 in 12 month's

:) :)

Fluff

before I got the vrs I had a xsara vts.Bought it brand new.Had to go back to the dealers 26 times in 2 years. The bloke at reception even knew my registration off by heart! Not had any probs with the vrs. Also have to agree about residuals.Only got

Thanks. I'm always looking for the best price!

I would avoid French cars purely for their reliablility problems. As has also been mentioned, they depriciate at a very quick speed. I bought a Renault Clio 1.2 16v 'Billabong' Special Edition for

Have to agrre with Richard. As well as my xsara problems,my nephew has had a nightmare with 2 clios he's had. My father however has had a Honda for the last 7 years and not had a single problem. If you do sell the vrs I'd go for the honda. Are you thinking of the 2.2 diesel? I've read some great reviews on it.

Test drove a C4 the other day. Found it near impossible to

a) get in to the thing without banging head on top of door frame

B) see out of the back window.

Drove like a trolley

DONT BUY ONE!

Hello

Test drove it this very afternoon.

Plus points, Loved the speedo and the amount of equipment

Minus points

Not a patch on the Fabia to drive. Too soft and yet not more comfortable.

Seemed much slower.

Doubt I'll buy one after test drive.
