exhaust help please

Featured Replies

A recent MOT failure for my 2001 fabia estate 1.4 8v has left me with an expensive problem! It has failed on a front pipe leak, and is bowing around the flexi joint. the problem is that this is the section with the cat in it. I am on a really tight budget at the moment, so my question is can I get just a new flexi joint welded in, or would I be better off scouring the breaker's yards? i'm looking at this

I realise that this is marked as compatible with the 16v, but can it be shoehorned in?

Thanks very much for your help!

Pretty much anything can be cut and welded in, it's just a question of cost and time. Ask your local independent exhaust place for a price, then compare the cost of getting the correct used part.

You can get a new flexi joint no problem, but getting it fitted correctly is the difficult bit. To weld all the way round the exhaust it will probly need to come off the car anyway, so the cost of removing the exhaust, cutting and welding the new flexi joint and refitting will probably more than just getting the right part.

I know my garage works on £50 an hour but we're quite a high class garage.

Ok, thanks guys, looks like I'm going to have to take the thing off then either way and see what the local places can do.
