10 plate FL black Vrs SALVAGE at Silverlake Auto's.....

Featured Replies

Doesn't look like the damage was bad to start with, till someone inside probably had neck or back pain and the emergency services decided to turn it into a convertible.

no maxidot to salvage from it

There is one on that site with a bolero and maxidot though

Shame that as Silverlake have become more formal/up to standards its prices have gone up quite a bit :(

Was a good scrappy when you could go for a scavange

The only damage I can see prior to the roof removal is the dent on the nearside rear bumper!

Some smart arse has had a minor tap from behind, thought they'd make an easy few quid from a whiplash claim and had it backfire, I bet.

Looks to me it does have maxi dot. I thought it was std on the face lift vrs.

Only on DSG equipped cars, they also come with an MFSW as standard

The non-Maxidot on the FL VRS cars (and possibly the others) looks similar to a Maxidot display unlike the pre-FL cars that had the half green LCD screen.

it is the standard, not the maxidot

The Type set and layout is slightly different

Enough to set an airbag off. Not a bad job although I'd have taken all the glass out instead of just leaving Packex on it.

Which airbag has popped?

Looks like the one from the passenger a-pillar. Might be wrong, but it looks like it's sitting on the seat, that and it looks as if it's missing from where it should be fitted on the pillar. I'm presuming that a vrs would have them fitted there like my L&K and not just have the dash ones only.

Curtain airbags were an option on the vRS; no idea why

Nice to know i have curtain airbags lol.

Anyway i see the rear lights are there dunno about passenger side condition, i will drop them an email for a price should be a laugh lol.

Just noticed the "Parts already taken" list.....

Lights gone.

Slightly away from the subject but they dont look like 'standard' fire brigade roof removal cuts

I wouldn't have thought a curtain airbag would deploy without any of the others.

Saying that Jeremy Clarkson had one go off in his BMW on Top Gear by driving over a rough road. I'm not sure how much of an effect remvoving a section of the outer door skin had though!

Curtain airbags are an option on the vRS, mine has them, but our Scout doesn't.

Trust me, it's pretty much a textbook roof removal and pretty much were I'd have cut it: low on the windscreen to take the bulk with the roof removal but above the wing mirrors to avoid the plastics, open the doors if possible instead of cutting them, low on the b pillar but above the door card to avoid cutting into trim and high on the c pillar where the metal is at it's smallest section. The smaller glass sections are covered in packex as well to avoid breaking them and causing extra glass shards for the casualty (although I prefer to take ALL the glass out if possible).

I wonder if the alloys are available? Could do with a set for winter tyres.

According to the parts removed section, the wheels and alloys are gone which I guess is no surprise as it doesn't look like they're damaged and they're an easy part to remove and sell.

I'm SURE that was someone's on here. The impact and damage ring a bell with me. They started a thread about it, might have been a month or two ago.
