Boost gauge fitting help

Featured Replies

Hi guys I'm wondering where to feed the vacuum hose from for the boost gauge. I understand that I need to insert a t piece. Just need to know which hose to feed it from. Pics would be a massive help as I don't really know what's what on these Diesel engines lol

Good luck diesels don't create a vacuum so I don't think boost gauges work on a diesel in the most common of terms. Plus it's a low pressure tubo on a diesel so most boost gauges do not scale low enough

Just past the egr valve. Some people have drilled the plastic upper boost pipe to mount the tpiece

I was told they do work though?

so they do work then ha. Thanks dark hero:-) so basically I need to insert the t piece on the plastic intercooler pipe just left of the egr valve? Pics would help boss

If you get an analogue one you need an anti buzz kit too

analogue?? adeqymy9.jpg I got this one mate. So is it the intercooler pipe that goes into the egr valve that I need to put the t piece into?

I'll see what I can find. I'm getting an allard egr delete which has an outlet for a boost gauge vacuum hose :)

That's a digital one so you'll be ok. Yes it's the intercooler pipe the t piece goes into

thanks mate let me know yeah. I don't mind drilling the plastic pipe. The gauge comes with the fitting and what not so just need to find a place to put the t piece in. I thought there was a vacuum hose going into the air filter box?

the gauge I bought had led lights in it. I don't think it's fully digital is it? ra4umega.jpg

Well no, diesels actually push a higher boost level than the equivalent petrols. You need to drill and tap directly into the boost pipework using something like a bleed nipple, you can't use the t piece. Just the included hose on the bleed nipple

remaps can create around 1.5 bar so not that low.

My bad that is analogue, with the needle. Sometimes they buzz with the diesels

where can I get these from? I'm not sure of the vacuum hose size yet so I don't know what size I need to buy. I'm guessing it will be about 4-5mm.

A motor factors will have something mate, just take your pipe down and ask if they have any it'll fit over :)

go to ask at kippax tell the lads what you are doing and they will be able to advise you how to do it and what you need

nice one. I went up today to buy an enclosed induction kit but they didn't have in. Ended up buying one from auto silicon hoses

spot on boss thank you very mate.

she's getting remapped next month. The kit I bought can with stand 300 bhp on aspirated engines. I got the kit for sound not performance pal

a vrs isnt naturally aspirated engine ? its a forced induction engine .... would love to hear it when youve done though

There's

Aspirated engines ie turbo / supercharger

Then there naturally aspirated engines.

The kit I bought will take 300bhp on either forced or naturally aspirated cars mate

Aspiration means drawing in by suction, which explains how a typical engine brings air into its intake manifold and then its cylinders. Turbochargers and superchargers, on the other hand, force air into their engines’ intake manifolds at greater-than-atmospheric pressure. Such an engine would be referred to generally as a forced-air-induction engine.

but if it says it does forced induction on the box then you should be fine . although a normal panel filter is good for around 200bhp. not sure what noise difference it will make ??
