Cool maxidot tricks

Featured Replies

These may be things you can do on other Skoda models but not something I have had/noticed before so I thought I'd point them out anyway...

If you go into the maxidot main menu (press and hold the rocker switch) you can switch between display modes (MFD, Audio, Navigation, Phone e.t.c.)

- If you select navigation you get a compass on the screen and current road name, even if you don't have the navigation active on the touchscreen

- If you select audio you can then change radio stations (and I presume track name on a CD) by using the rocker switch, giving you a bit of radio functionality which you otherwise don't have unless you have the steering wheel controls.

Nice tips.

Are you finding there isn't the option to change vehicle settings in the Maxidot? E.g. single click unlocking and auto door locks etc. I was expecting it to be there but couldn't find.

Yes, I couldn't find those options. I think you only get them on the next level up cars - ie. Octavia, Superb, Yeti.

I would like to be able to turn off the autolocking, but think you need a laptop and cable to do that...

Yes I assume the Rapid has the more limited maxidot functionality of the Fabia, hence when we bought the Monte maxidot stayed on the options list. Never got used on the Elegance and strangely it's nice to have the subtle green instrument lighting again after the bright white.

Its strange as the Audi A1 allows you to change those settings via the MMI and you'd have thought the underlying electronics between them would be similar.

Not a big problem though as presumably can still be done via VCDS!

maybe there is a coding option

I retrofitted a Highline to a Golf mk6 today, that didn't have any options either. Had to look through the BCM coding to enable them
