led indicator bulbs

Featured Replies

Hi guys i was wondering if any of you canny lot could help me out here. i was contemplating the idea of changing my indicator bulbs for led ones but my concern is would they flash faster as the do on a bike so i would have to put an inline resistor in to drop the current a little? Just to be honest i really cant be bothered with the faff on of doing that. Eventually i was going to change all my bulbs to led's. Personally i prefere them to normal bulbs.

I've always upgraded the sidelights to led on all my previous cars. Autobulbsdirect do a very good selection of bulbs with a built in resistor so it's just plug&play :)

Ah right. Cheers chris! Will have a look.

Aftermarket LED bulbs do not give the light scatter of a filament bulb, so instead of the light showing through the whole area of a light cluster you get a very focused area, thus your indicator, brake light etc. could become very difficult to see in the cluster. This is why Audi etc. use multiple LEDs across the whole rear cluster to give the required light distribution.

Ah yes i never thought that it might not be as seeable mannyo. Thats something for me to thing about.

I tried these LED's on Indicators but changed them back to stock instantly for 2 reasons; 1.) The light scatter is not complete as 'mannyo' has mentioned above, and 2.) They are no way as bright as the stock, so kind of ineffective in day light.

A better alternative to the replacement I found were these Stealth/Diadem Bulbs. They very well gel in with the Reflectors making them unnoticeable and have found them to be much more brighter than the stocks, which in a way enhances the looks of the Indicators when operated.

Ah right thanks for that info 666. Think i'v been put of the this idea now. Personally i'm too tight to pay 15 quid for 2 bulbs so i'll not be getting those. Haha.

I did a simular thing a few years ago: You've been de-tangod The Philips ones and are still going strong.
