Dodgy french electrics on an 07 plate megane?

Featured Replies

I was following a quite new megane earlier and was surprised to see when it indicated and braked for a left turn its rear left taillight was going all kinds of crazy - brake light flashing with indication pattern but also trying to be on for the braking too, and the indicator light was just not in sync with anything. This kind of thing is something I usually associate with much older vehicles..... I thought maybe the dodgy wiring thing was a thing of the past for most manufacturers nowadays.

Duff earth.

Quite common on some Fords by the look of some around home

While it often can be, it's not always a duff earth.

Often it can be because people have put in a single wire bulb in the wrong place and that's causing connections when there shouldn't be one.

Yeah this was common on my Clio, has take emery paper to it every 6 month, think the salt used to get to it and fuse the connections together.

Just wait till his airbag doesn't work due to the lose cable under the seat, the Stop/Start button stops working, the central locking gremlins appear, the electric windows play up and i think the sun roof has a mind of its own.

Apparently when they are made the big loom of wiring is in one factory and the car in another, the wiring is then taken to the car uncovered outside and exposed to the elements..basically your car is built when its raining..its going to have problems

I had this fault on a friends clio,as well as the lights on the rear doing all sorts of weird stuff & the fog light warning light coming on when you braked,it was a bad connection on the earth circuit in both rear lamp bulb holders,my other half has a 2009 clio & the wiring doesnt look any better on that.

It might be the wiring.........I've seen some crazy electrical weirdness of french cars too at young ages.with indicators acting as brake lights or being on permanantly, and the tail light acts as the indicator.....

(though you should see our LR Discovery......the headlight issues are tres magnifique!)
