Trade in Values - Do they differ dealer to dealer

Featured Replies

I'm contemplating a mkIII (many of us are!)

Is it worth shopping around - or is everything the same in Skoda dealer network world ?

Obviously I'll checkout we buy any car and private first....

I have a 33k LE CR with extra noisekiller, OEM BT ('D') & rear bumper beepers & new 17" riva wheels and new all season tyres - which would probably add more in private land than dealer land - or is this a wrong assumption?

cheers

Yes they certainly do ! When I purchased my first Octavia the first dealer I saw offered me 1k less for my Fabia trade than the second!

'Extras' do not tend to affect the trade in values. They may even make the car difficult to sell on.

It all depends on dealer targets and how many cars they have to shift each month. I got £3500 off a pre-reg Octavia and a good trade in deal on my Hyundai. Just was lucky.

Yes as each dealer will have different targets, different margins. Some will be happy to make 1k on a trade in, others will be happy just to pass it on at cost to secure the deal on the new car.

Just remember not to worry too much about the trade in value but the cost to change. When they start talking to you about the value of your car just say to them all that maters is the price to change and your target is £X. This gets rid of the whole dealer a giving £500 more but then the car costing more as well.

It also depends on what your trading in. Some might sell it them selves (more profit) where as others will just shift it on and then make less

Dont focus on part ex values, focus on the cost to change to whatever car you are buying from them. Dealers might give you a fab part ex but nothing off the car you buy, or they might give you a big discount and a crap part ex.

They do give different values though, when i sold my evoque all the offers i had were from dealers and they varied by £2000.
