A4069 Crash

Featured Replies

Few of us know of it because of last years Welsh meet. I was on this road a few hours before this happened on the SV just to give it a run out and there were loads of "kids" in VXR's, Type-R's, ST's, Saxo's, couple of sports bikes blasted past me like I was standing still. It seems the more Top Gear, and other journo's are using it it's getting more popular and people are noticing it's there. Then this happened.

Asked my boss about it who lives at the start of the road Brynamman end and she's gone off at the last right hander before you get to Brynamman. It's where I started getting brake fade last year but the corner is wide enough to compensate. It was only a Ford Ka so I can only think she's misjudged the corner.

Now crashes happen all the time on roads and this happened on the other hairpin a few years ago. Note lots of yoofs watching for something to happen, people showing off.

I wouldn't normally post about an accident but being a road lots of us know I thought I'd give people a heads up. there's been talk of restrictions on the road, whatever that could mean and it's been talked about for years about more armco, even though where it happened there was some. It's a lovely stretch of road but you do need to be alert for it. This may be the final straw for police and no doubt the locals will have something to say about it. I expect to see cameras at a minimum or maybe one traf pol in a layby so if anyone does want to go up there to bear it in mind.

Although its very sad to have a loss of life and im sure she would of avoided it if at all possible but its simply down to lack of driver skill.

If every person that drove that that road crashed then yes there would be a problem but this is not the case, its the idiots and inexperienced people that ruin it for everyone.

I have lost friends due to car crashes and although its very sad its their own bloody fault.

Its common sense to drive to the conditions (although you wouldt think it) but some people think experience and skill is included in passing their test

probably why the idiot in the Civic needs the large towing eye at the back. Hopefully a prosecution followed as well as invalidation of insurance. the video provides concrete evidence of racing/ time trialling on a public road which I think on the British mainland is only officially permitted on the Jim Clark Rally, Scottish Borders the only closed road event on mainland UK. Yes I know there is Mull, IOM and Ulster but they are NOT mainland.

We've got a quite notorious road down this way (Bridport to Weymouth coast road) and on Monday night another motorcyclist died after colliding with a car. Not saying this one was racing but it's well known that bikers time themselves along this challenging road. I'll admit myself when younger to driving rather enthusiastically along this road whenever I was on it. Even now I like to 'press' on whenever on it.

It's definitely that sort of road and we all did when we had the meet but when we went, apart from a local in a 4x4 and a few cyclists the road was quiet. It does go to another village but isn't the main way any more so apart from wanting to go up there for a walk or a drive there's no real reason to use it.

In her case it's more than likely driver error but an almost "normal" car crash will give an argument to getting the road changed in some way to stop it.

Personally I find it extremely worrying if you manage to stuff a modern hot hatch off a road like that, for no other reason you've got to be driving very fast indeed, and obviously out of control. Too fast to avoid cyclists, sheep, other cars etc TBH if Brisky meets are anything like that, then count me out. Even if you're doing a road rally, vanishing point still applies on a public road, and there can never be an excuse to take that risk to ignore it.

I've only had the one meet but Brisky meets are nothing like that from what I've seen and nothing like these kids were doing. We were only driving through on the way to Penderyn. There were no dodgy overtakes and we watched out for cyclists which there were a few. Being one I know what it's like so everything was given a wide berth. As far as I'm aware everyone drove fine and there wasn't anything silly. We did see a Golf on the A465 driving in the central reservation at about 80mph who must have been on something but he was nothing to do with us. We even showed a copper the footage.
