Alloy wheel change!

Featured Replies

Evening!

I'm contemplating a change of alloy wheels and would be interested in opinions please. I have standard Sport 17" Pegasus rims like these:

and I'm considering getting them refurbished then resprayed black or alternatively buying these:

What do you think?

Keep your Pegasus and get them refurbished gunmetal/ titanium.

Or plasti dip them.....not sure how well it stays on wheels but a lot do it....

I do like the replacements though

Fake RS4 wheels. To be seen adorning every chavved up mk4 Golf in existance (or S8/RS6 reps).

Keep the Pegasus wheels and get them refurbed.

When I bought the car 4yrs ago I asked for them to be refurbed as they had a couple of marks, 2 of them were but as a result are a slightly different colour hence the reason for wanting a change. Colour suggestions welcome; Black Gloss, Matte black, Gunmetal or Titanium but not silver again please!

Rs4 alloys don't look very good on the octavia in my opinion seen a few and it just looks odd. Was thinking of putting them on my octy but thought better of it.

And as said before they are a very common wheel especially on mk4 golfs.

I'm getting mine done by TWS at some point in the next month. 99% certain I'm going with gloss black... tie it in with the rest of the car thats just black everything!

Not sure why any one would ever get flash chrome....should always look like brake dust needed to be cleaned off lol

Grigio Silverstone.

I actually like CH Reps. But you'll need to be running pretty low profile tyres for them to look right and what comes with that is lowering to not give it a 4x4 look!

£85 a corner for a respray sounds a LOT. TWS would work out similar price (for 18"s) at the moment for tyres fully off, powdercoat (much better than painting), tyres back on and balancing etc.

The peaguas wheels are stunning, I'd keep them, new centre caps & a refurb

that refurb quote seems a bit steep. should be around 200 -250 in my experience.

personally not a fan of reps but each to their own.

£85 a wheel is steep, I payed £70 per wheel at TWS for my 16" and £50 a wheel for my 17" at Diamond Wheels.

Are we talking refurbed and painted here?

A colleague in work just rang her son for me now and he said he will do them for £200, I wasn't sure If he quoted me mates rates or full price but nevertheless nearly half what Renowheel quoted me. I was surprised with the quote mind coz I remember going to them a few years back and he only charged me £35 for a refurb on one wheel!

There are some for sale on eBay £250 but in need of some love!

Does that include removing/refitting the wheels? If so, sounds good.

If no, somewhere like CAS Coatings in Bradford (well known for doing good jobs with car parts) will do 4 wheels for about £120 but you need to get the tyres removed/refitted etc.

19 inch BBS Style in black of any interest Billy?

Why are you selling? I've not considered 19" rims due to tyre price and how small my standard brake disks would look underneath them.

Yes everything is included with Renowheel but I'm not sure about the other quote I had off my colleagues son as I didn't speak with him directly, I would guess so.

It's a silver sport right? Like this?

Yes - I have a set of 19“ which came with my Audi and which would fit my Scout even with their present tyres (which I need to use up), but somehow I don't think they'll suit it. Both are currently running on 18s with the same knobbly tyres, but I'm tempted to switch back to a road pattern to use up and benefit from better MPG, saving the knobblies for the next snow (my drive was only just cleared on Tuesday!). No plans to sell the wheels though.
