so i managed to crack my sump. i have it all unbloted but it doesnt seem to want to budge. any ideas?

Tap with rubber mallet

Have you undone all the bolts? even the ones in the bell housing? if all bolts are out i tap the sump with a rubber mallet to free it from the block.

The sealant holds it pretty well. I tapped with a mallet, no joy, so I very gently inserted a blunt screwdriver in the gap and used that to break the seal. Then it almost dropped on my head

ahh great response! ive hit it quite allot tbh. yeah ive gotten all the bolts even the ones hidden in the grooves. screw driver it is.

lol.... yep that nearly happened to me Rob...

I remember similar on a PD sump I was removing, with the engine out the car and upside down. It took one hell of an effort to prise it away from the bottom of the block

all sorted thanks all. altho it hasnt quite sealed properly. so theres a very slow leak but atleast itl be easyer next time.
