Cruise control has stopped working .after OBD scan tool ..help

Featured Replies

Today I plugged in an OBD scan tool in to my superb to monitor the engine speed snsor vs gps speed. I also cleared some logged data. That was it, nothing else. After 5mins i plugged it out only to find my cruise was no longer working. Never had a prob with it before so it had to be releted to the OBD device doing something i was unaware of .... But what. Now im afraid to plug that damm thing into anything other than my bin. Any ideas on what i can do before i take it to mr Automotive electrics down the road

What OBD scan tool did you use?

It would be well odd for the scan tool to be able to remove the coding to activate cruise control. It's little stories like this why i am reluctant to plug anything in to my car than my full VCDS.

IIRC, the cruise shares the same fuse as the diagnostics, so maybe the fuse blew when you removed the scan tool.

Sorry guys but problem fixed, I feeI like a right clown. Just found a post http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/105696-cruise-control-not-working/

I didn't find this post when I used the search here on briskoda but found it after a lot of googling. It answers a question I have asked myself for the past 8 years of Skoda superb driving. "What is that little slide switch for on the left stalk" I had got back into the passenger side after I put the OBD device in and was talking to a mate on the phone for a min, of course poked about the steering wheen and flicked the switch without thinking. Hung up the phone started up the car and did my test run. Took out the OBD device and then thought IT had broken my cruise. I recently bought a Hyundai Santa fe and have cursed it's cruise system for being so complicated. It has a ON/Off switch and then beyond finger reach is your Set and further away again is Resume. so you have to move your hands again. I always think, why do you need an On switch? If I want to cruise at surrent speed I press "set" in the skoda, if I don't then I don't. I have never accidently pressed cruise set. Now it seems the Superb has actually this "Do you really want to turn on cruise" button but at least it's a physical button that stays in an ON state constantly.

Never mind, it's a happy ending
