Bolero upgrade for phone and music streaming

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

I've just bought a 09 octavia Vrs ltd edition it has a bolero touch screen and white maxi dot display.

I want to keep the unit although want to upgrade it to hands free bluetooth and music streaming.

The unit has a multimedia button and you can switch on bt although when you go to appropriate screen bt remains greyed out.

I know this has been asked before and I have read some threads which have just confused me .

If someone could just tell me what parts I need it would be superb.

Firstly, your profile photo, car info and signature need an update :)

Secondly, you need to retrofit a Skoda Bluetooth module, to enable that functionality. For example: http://goo.gl/3j6IT

Then it needs to be setup with VCDS.

Hi Thanks

I've not taken delivery will change all next week when I get it.

Do they always need vcds setup as I spoke with dealer who said they are not allowed to do it

For coding, you need to tell the car and Bolero that the module is there, so it can access it. You need to select it on the Gateway installation list.

For the dealer, it may be an issue that it's more difficult with VAS. But to be honest they should be able to manage it, by following the diagnostic steps that are available if a customer comes in with a car that's had Bluetooth factory fitted, and is reporting it's not working - for example.

Can you tell me if you know what the difference between the other unit you posted and the other unit the dealer has for sale .

Depends what revision the dealer unit is.

Sorry for being thick does this mean I need to wait until I get the car to check the serial/model number of bolero before I by a module.

No, it depends on the revision of the bluetooth module. You need to make sure it will do what you want. The one in the link will be fine.

You said "the other unit the dealer has for sale" - which made it sound like you were comparing the Bluetooth module I'd included a link to, with one the dealer had?

If not, it's as Simon says above - that one I included a link to will be fine for what you want to do.

It was the same dealer with a different unit different model number .

I will just purchase above link and if dealer doesn't play the game will go looking for someone who can help .

Thanks for the help

No worries.

Just make sure you've confirmed with the dealer that they're happy to fit something that you're providing them with. Some often refuse to carry out retrofitting of equipment, especially if they've not provided it themselves.

Will fit it myself just need them to get it going

Ah OK. You could use a local member with VAG-COM/VCDS in that case. Much easier.
